Tom Hanks

Tom Hanks-2-1024x767Thomas Jeffrey Hanks (born July 9th, 1956) is an American actor and film maker. Known for both his comedic and dramatic roles, he's one of the most admired and recognizable film stars worldwide and is widely regarded as an American popular culture icon. Thomas Jeffrey Hanks was a Concord, California native to Janet Marylyn Hanks, a hospital worker, and Amos Mefford Hanks an itinerant cook. His mother, originally called "Fraga", was a Portuguese family. His father was mainly English. Tom was born into an extended family that he describes as "fractured". He was not an actor in college and credits his inability to get a role in a college production as the reason for his beginning career. He walked into the city, and tried to audition for a local stage production. He was then requested by the director of the play to Cleveland and then his acting career began.
